My Email to Elizabeth Warren for Senate All Night Discussion on Climate Change

To Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)

We cannot talk about the topic of climate change without addressing the current energy industry. It's a privatized industry basically working as a middle man to manage the public resources used to produce energy for our country. We know this as a carbon-based or sometimes referred to as a fossil fuel based industry.

Economics ties into our dilemma because so many powerful people subscribe to the cultish beliefs of The Free Market System. And because of this we have all been subjected to the proliferation of archaic means of energy production, not only in our own country but around the world.  Much money is being made by a select few by holding the world hostage to the fossil fuel industry way of meeting our energy needs.

Now I know some people, the President included, have stated that natural gas is a clean alternative to oil and coal. Let's remind them that methane is a greenhouse gas. Let's also remind them that exploiting and contaminating our fresh water aquifers in order to drill for natural gas is hardly what any sane person would call clean energy.

In 2014 energy technology should be helping to make people more independent and more sufficient in obtaining their energy needs. It should be freeing up the ability for many more people to travel near and far. Our elderly and our children should never have to fear freezing to death in the winter due to an unpaid utility bill. Our families should easily be able to grow a portion of their own organic food all year around if they want to.

Empowering citizens to become more sufficient in providing for their own needs, without depending on a Corporation which is exploiting them for profit, is what we should be aspiring to. This is what advancing energy technology could do, and should do, as our society evolves towards more balance within our ecosystem. Solar power does not require humans to be subjected to a profiteering middleman, in order to keep from freezing to death or to feed themselves, and this is a good thing.

P.S. Good Luck Tonight, Senator Warren and Thank You For Speaking Out. xoxo
